Exorbitant parking fee at KWSP office in PJ

LETTERS: I WISH to complain about charges being imposed by a car park operator at the KWSP government office in Petaling Jaya.

I am complaining because I was flabbergasted when I was asked to pay RM6 for 10 minutes parking.

The parking area also lacks the basic components of a parking space as the lot was undergoing major repair work. In addition, a parking machine was not installed and it is not a covered parking area.

Yet, the parking attendant insisted that I pay RM6 despite explaining to her that I was just going to be there for a short time.

In view of this situation, I have some questions:

1. Why is the car park operator charging such a hefty price per entry despite less than 10 to 15 minutes of parking?

2. Even 5-star hotels impose a lower parking fee than the usual one hour rate, if it's less than 30 minutes.

3. The KWSP office is also a government office, hence why is it so expensive to park there? Should the rate be lowered?

The car park operator charged RM6 for the first two hours and RM1 for the subsequent hour. Even though the fee schedule is shown, I still think it is an outrageous amount, particularly if a visitor only parks his vehicle for a short duration.
