KUALA LUMPUR: Kelantan Umno has urged the Home Ministry to investigate the authencity of a clip depicting alleged corruption practices during the 15th General Election (GE15) in the state, which has gone viral on social media.
Pasir Puteh Umno division chief Datuk Zawawi Othman said the ministry must find the people who committed the offence if it was proven that the clip is authentic.
"We must teach them (those who engaged in corruption during the general election) a lesson. We must show to the people who they really are.
"We want to know where they got the money from as it may involve a large sum," Zawawi said when debating the party president's policy speech at the 2022 Umno General Assembly today.
The clip which is making the rounds in the social media showed a number of people being given money after they recited the Muslim oath to vote for a certain political party contesting the election.
Zawawi also took a swipe at Pas for criticising Umno after the party and Barisan Nasional (BN) agreed to work with Pakatan Harapan (PH) including DAP to form the unity government.
"They forgot that they had previously 'cium mulut' (work alongside with) DAP. They forgot that (Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri) Muhyiddin (Yassin) for some time shared the same stage (with DAP).
"And now they are calling us out after we agreed to work with DAP (to form the unity government)," he said.
