Police arrest Indian national over murder of lover's husband

SUBANG JAYA: Police have arrested a man who was wanted for the murder of his lover's husband, a year after the incident.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police arrested the suspect after receiving a report about an Indian national who allegedly killed a fellow countryman in February last year.

The victim was 25 years old and was reported missing last May.

Wan Azlan said the incident took place at a bungalow, where the body was buried at 4.45pm.

He said investigations were carried out by the Ampang Jaya district criminal investigation division.

He said the suspect admitted to the crime during interrogation.

"The suspect led police to the place where the crime was committed. He said the murder took place at a hill slope behind a bungalow in Subang Jaya.

"The murder happened in the bungalow, which was an elderly care centre. The victim is believed to have been slashed in the throat with a knife," Wan Azlan said today.

He said the forensic team found plastic bags that were believed to have been used to wrap the victim's body.

He said the murder weapon had yet to be found.

"Following the discovery, we detained the victim's wife, who is also from India, two locals and one Indonesian woman aged between 25 and 35 who works at the centre. They do not have any criminal records.

"It was found that both the suspect and the victim's wife do not have passports."

The motive behind the murder is believed to be an affair between the suspect and the victim's wife.

"The High Commission of India had lodged a police report about a missing man in May 2022 after receiving reports from the victim's family members who had lost contact with him.

"The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Those with information on the case can contact the Subang Jaya district police headquarters at 03-7862 7100."
