State election: Selangor Pas pledges to field clean, competent candidates

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Pas is committed to fielding only competent and corruption-free candidates in the upcoming state election.

Pas state commissioner Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi, in a statement today, said this is in line with the party's wish to uphold Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah's decree.

The sultan had yesterday advised the people to choose leaders who are trustworthy and responsible. He also expressed concern about political differences that could cause disunity among the Malays (insert hyperlinks: https://ift.tt/oj0QYXh).

Ahmad Yunus said the party respects the democratic process and upholds the rule of law, and vows to always be loyal to the Malay ruler.

"Selangor Pas will continue to practise a mature political culture throughout the election campaign and we call upon other parties to also obey His Majesty's reminder."

He said the party also shared the sultan's concern about Malay unity.

Ahmad Yunus said Pas would continue to urge the Malays to support efforts to unite the 'ummah' in order to build political strength.
