Developer given seven days to strengthen slope

MELAKA: The state government has given seven days to the developer of a commercial development project to strengthen the slope where soil has begun to collapse in Taman Muzaffar Syah, Lebuh Ayer Keroh, Bukit Katil here.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the state government through the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ) would also conduct daily monitoring to ensure that the technical aspects involving the safety of the slope are complied with and improved immediately.

"We have received complaints from the residents and today I was briefed by the MPHTJ, the Public Works Department (JKR) and the developer regarding the soil movement.

"The developer has been given seven days to improve and strengthen this slope and at the same time we want the developer to comply with the technical advice given by JKR," he told a press conference at Taman Muzaffar Shah here today.

He also pointed out that the project may be suspended until a solution is found if there is more damage.

"We also hope the developer will pay attention to the compensation claim if any houses are affected by this project," he added.

Yesterday, the media reported that the soil movement which occurred in the residential area had left its residents in a state of high anxiety. --BERNAMA
