Op Hire 2.0 : Two company owners remanded in Penang over false claims

GEORGE TOWN: Two company owners were remanded for three days, until Thursday, to assist a probe into more than RM400,000 worth of false claims made through the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso).

The remand order against the duo, aged 35 and 62, was issued by Magistrate Mohamad Azlan Basri at the magistrate's court here today.

The two were among 47 company directors detained nationwide yesterday by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) through the Op Hire 2.0.

They were represented by a team of lawyers from Partibhan&Co dan Anba&Associates.

The duo are currently detained in the state MACC lock-up.

It was reported that the MACC detained 47 company directors nationwide through its Op Hire 2.0.

All those detained were brought to magistrate's courts nationwide for remand order under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code today.

According to sources, all those detained, aged between 30 and 70, were company directors who had filed claims for the hiring and training of workers to Perkeso.

However, it was not implemented as required.

The false claims were between RM450,000 and RM2 million.

Op Hire 2.0 is an operation to curb the misappropriation and leakages of funds as a result of false claims made by company directors through the employee hiring incentive programme and Pelan Jana Semula Ekonomi (Penjana).
