Pahang MB: Students no longer need reps' signature when applying for scholarships, educational loans

KUANTAN: The Pahang government has abolished the requirement for students to obtain the signature of elected representatives when applying for scholarship and educational loans through Yayasan Pahang.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail (BN-Jelai) said this would make it easier for students as they could now make the applications online.

"From this year onwards, the state government has abolished the requirement for representatives or appointed representatives to sign the applications.

"I hope the Yang Berhormat (representatives) can share the information with students in their constituencies to allow them (students) to make applications online without obtaining signatures."

Wan Rosdy was replying to a question from Rosli Abdul Jabar (Pas-Tanjung Lumpur), who had asked why opposition members were not qualified to sign scholarship forms for students in their constituencies.

On a supplementary question from Datuk Seri Mohd Johari Hussain (BN-Tioman) on the total amount of funds spent for educational purposes since Yayasan Pahang was set up in 1983, Wan Rosdy said RM1.4 billion had been spent till December last year benefiting 1.78 million students.
