Man who tried to save drowning children found dead

SEPANG: A man who was reported missing while trying to save two sisters from drowning at Pantai Bagan Lalang, here, was found dead today.

Sepang Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Superintendent, Mohd Bukhari Md Shahar, said the body of the victim, Mohd Faizal Mahasan, 30, was found at 9.35am.

"The body was found some 500 metres from the location of the incident.

"The body was then sent to the Serdang Hospital for further action," he said.

On Sunday, it was reported that two sisters died of drowning while picnicking at the Pantai Bagan Lalang.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director, Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail, was quoted as saying that a team from the Sepang fire station rushed to the location after receiving a distress call at 2.34pm.

He said three victims were involved, namely the sisters aged seven and nine, as well as a 30-year-old man.

It is understood that the man had dove in after the children to rescue them when they were swept away.

The remains of the children were found some 50 metres from where they were reported missing.
