2024 Budget prep is in final phase, says Steven Sim

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Finance Ministry has completed its engagement sessions to gather feedback from agencies and the community in preparation for the 2024 Budget set to be tabled in October.

Deputy Finance Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong stated that the final phase of preparations had begun and that all received feedback was being evaluated.

The engagement sessions held a month ago nationwide garnered overwhelming feedback as they were able to meet close to 8,000 individuals from across states, sectors and ministries, he added.

"We have also received close to 10,000 feedback from the people who gave their views through the ministry's website.

"All of this feedback will be concluded and given consideration to be included in the 2024 Budget.

"We are at the stage of assessing them and in the final phase now," he said when met at the parliamentary level "Rahmah Kasih Sayang'' programme held at his service centre here, today.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim instructed cabinet ministers to hold engagement sessions to facilitate the drafting of the 2024 Budget from mid-August to September.

The 2024 Budget is set to focus on the welfare of the people, the continuation and enhancement of assistance as well as the development of the nation's infrastructure.
