MARAN: An octogenarian has been reported missing from her house at Kampung Bukit Kening, near Chenor here since Sept 24.

The search-and-rescue (SAR) operation entered its third day today to locate Nafisah Bakar, aged 81.

Maran Civil Defence Department (APM) officer Captain Mohd Nor Azhar Yusof said Nafisah's family members realised she was missing from her house at the settlement at about 3.30pm on Sept 24 (Sunday).

"The family members had alerted some villagers to help locate the victim in the village but failed to find her. The family members alerted the APM and police at around 6.30pm before search operations began at 8.30pm.

"After failing to find the missing victim, her family members lodged a report at the Chenor police station at about 3pm yesterday. The third day of search operations began at 8am today involving some 50 policemen, firemen, APM and the villagers," he said, adding that two police K9 tracker dogs have been roped in to assist in the search operations.

Nor Azhar said the SAR team are currently focusing around a 3km radius from the victim's house including the nearby forest areas.
