Former school dodgeball coach charged with two counts of outraging modesty of 12-year-old male students

KUALA LUMPUR: A former primary school dodgeball coach was slapped with two counts of outraging the modesty of two of his male students by flicking their genitals last year.

Terence Eee Soon Lee, 53, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him before Petaling Jaya magistrate Zhafran Rahim Hamzah.

According to the charges, Eee is accused of outraging the modesty of a 12-year-old male student by flicking the victim's genitals and poking his buttocks with a stick.

The accused is also alleged to have committed a similar act on another male student.

Eee allegedly committed the offence at the school hall between 2pm and 2.30pm sometime in November and December last year.

The offence falls under Section 509 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum of five years' imprisonment or a fine or both upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Maryam Jamilah Md Kamal asked the court to impose RM12,000 bail against the accused.

However, defence counsel Datuk R. Thrichelvam pleaded for minimum bail of RM6,000.

"My client is the sole breadwinner for his family. Bail is only to ensure attendance in court and not to punish the accused," he said.

The court set RM3,500 bail for all charges and fixed Nov 29 for mention.

It was reported that Malaysian Dodgeball Association president Datuk V. Radhakrishnan had said that he had received a complaint from the school's Parents-Teacher Association co-curriculum bureau, adding that a meeting with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh would be held to discuss the implementation of a detailed safe sports code.
