More than 25,000 people seeking shelter at 241 flood relief centres in East Coast states

KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in the East Coast states has taken a turn for the worse with thousands of residents evacuated from their homes and seeking shelter at 241 flood relief centres.

The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) in a statement said a total of 25,434 people from 7,388 families are seeking shelter at 241 flood relief centres in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.

In Kelantan, a total of 14,006 people from 4,288 families are seeking shelter at 94 flood relief centres in eight districts namely Gua Musang, Jeli, Kota Bharu, Kuala Krai, Machang, Pasir Mas, Pasir Puteh and Tanah Merah.

In Terengganu, a total of 10,643 people from 2,913 families are seeking shelter at 134 flood relief centres in seven districts, namely Besut, Dungun, Hulu Terengganu, Kemaman, Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Setiu.

In Pahang, a total of 785 people from 187 families are seeking shelter at 13 flood relief centres in three districts, namely Lipis and Raub.

Meanwhile, in Selangor, a total of four people from a family are seeking shelter at a flood relief centre in Kuala Langat.
