KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have extended New Year's greetings to the people today.
Their Majesties extended their wishes via a post on Istana Negara's Facebook page today.
"May all the people and the country be showered with blessings, well-being, and prosperity and be protected from any form of calamity and disaster.
"May we also be blessed with lasting unity and harmony," the post read.
It is expected to be a rather muted New Year in the country.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government cancelled the usual large-scale New Year's Eve celebration at Dataran Merdeka due to floods in several states and people's hardship.
Several malls around Klang Valley also cancelled their fireworks display.
