Police to haul-up campsite manager in probe into Batang Kali landslide

BATANG KALI: Police will call in the manager of the Father's Organic Farm campsite in Gohtong Jaya for questioning and to assist in their investigation into the deadly landslide.

Selangor police chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said the manager would be called in later today.

"We will take further action," he said in a press conference today.

However, he did not provide the details of the investigation into the incident.

"We will update later," he added.

It was reported yesterday that the operator was running the campsite without a licence from the local council.

Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming said the farm only had permission to operate as an organic farm, which was approved by the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council in 2019.

He said the operator had flouted provisions in the Street, Drainage, and Buildings Act 1974, which carries a penalty of not more than RM50,000 and imprisonment of not more than three years.

Twenty-three people were killed in the landslide here, which struck early morning yesterday.

Sixty-one were rescued and the rescuers are still looking for 10 more victims, who are listed as missing.
