JASIN: A senior citizen is suspected to have been murdered during a robbery at her house at Kampung Pulai Darat, at 2am, here this morning.
Police found the body of Misah Md Amin, 91, in the kitchen of the house. She is believed to have been living alone.
Jasin district acting police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Fadzli Othman said police were informed about the incident by neighbours at 3.54am.
"The senior citizen was pronounced dead by a medical team at the scene. The body was later sent to the Jasin Hospital for a post-mortem," he said when contacted today.
Fadzli said acting on information from members of the public, police managed to detain a 20-year-old suspect who is unemployed, about six hours later near the location.
He added that the suspect had three previous criminal records for robbery. -- BERNAMA
