Rahmah Menu to be available at all Ramadan bazaars in Ipoh

IPOH: The Rahmah Menu initiative, which offers a meal at RM5 and below, will be introduced at all Ramadan bazaars in Ipoh.

Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said the initiative was meant to help the people and target groups to get a balanced meal where Rahmah menu is available.

"Even before (the decision on the matter is made), we informed the traders to sell food at a reasonable price.

"We encourage traders to prepare such a meal because this is good for the people," he told reporters after the launch of the Lalaland Cafe in Jalan Lasam here today.

Rumaizi said as of today, Ipoh City Council (MBI) had approved 19 Ramadan bazaar sites involving nearly 1,000 traders.

Although ramadan bazaar applications had been closed, he said the local authority was still getting applications to allow at least three new Ramadan bazaar sites to open.

"These three locations include in the town (Ipoh) centre as well as Station 18, which are being studied. If suitable, we open the Ramadan bazaar site there.

"We will work with several companies to get a bigger market platform, which can indirectly help higher sales and enable traders to reduce their selling prices," he said.

Rumaizi also said the council supported and encourageed the growth of gastronomic products, which were activities involving local food and unique food culture.

He cited the container-concept Lalaland Cafe as a unique food experience that could attract people to visit the Ipoh city.

"This cafe is not only promoting and selling its food, but it also offers a new lifestyle and atmosphere that makes this city unique compared to other places," he said.
