KUALA LUMPUR: A visually impaired man became a social media sensation when a video of him explaining how he tells banknotes apart based on feel and touch, went viral
The video uploaded on Facebook in March this year features Loh Boon Keat telling apart between a RM10 and RM20 notes that were handed to him by a person behind the camera.
"You can tell the difference between RM10 and RM20 notes by their length, but the RM10 is wider than the RM20 note."
He also said he sense an RM50 note based on its texture.
"I can tell it's a RM50 because of the rough part over here,""Loh said while stroking the RM50 note.
He said he also used an application on his smartphone to identify bank notes.
"While using the app, you can just hold up the note in front of the camera and it will tell you which note it is,"
Commenters on Facebook were impressed by Loh's ability.
"This boy should be an example to the youngsters. Many people can learn from him," said Azadey Ali.
Muhammad Azhari Mat Isa said: "The way he speaks and each sentence that comes out of his mouth shows that he is very smart. He is well-versed about the subject. You can tell by the way he answers the questions."
Wanabdaziz Wanshariff said able-bodied people should notice such things and not take sight for granted.
"We abled-bodied people should be embarrassed at this man's prowess," he said.
Fathima Sophia Ranhia said people like Loh were very independent and would do well in life.
