Sabah police actively tackling child pornography says commissioner

PENAMPANG: Sabah police are actively conducting investigations and arrests related to child pornography crimes in the state.

It was reported that Sabah ranked fourth among Malaysian states in terms of child pornography cases, with 375 cases recorded between 2018 and last year.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said operations are being carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Sabah State Police Contingent Headquarters.

"There have been several arrests related to this issue in the state.

"The latest arrest involving child pornography was earlier this year in Putatan," he said during a press conference and added that the statistics would be provided through a statement.

Earlier, Jauteh witnessed the handover of duties for the Penampang district police chief and the Police Family Association chairman of the Penampang District Police Headquarters (IPD), as well as inauguration of the open hall at the Penampang IPD here.

Deputy Superintendent Sammy Newton has been appointed as Penampang acting district police chief, replacing DSP Mohd Haris Ibrahim, who is not Kudat district police chief.
