IPOH: Police have obtained a four-day remand order against a man who allegedly made a false bomb threat call to Klebang Aeon Mall here yesterday.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said the remand order was to enable the police to question the 38-year-old jobless man.
"The man has been remanded for four days, from today until Aug 27," he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, police arrested the man, who has a record of mental illness, at a house in Tasek here at 9.30pm.
The mall management had received a phone call from an unknown individual about a bomb threat inside the building.
Following the call, it lodged a police report yesterday at 4.50pm and police ordered a thorough search of the mall and its surrounding area.
Inspection found no suspicious objects and after the mall was confirmed safe, staff were allowed to re-enter the building at 10.30pm.
