#Showbiz: Ramona Zamzam's Palestinian father-in-law keeps harsh reality from her daughter

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Ramona Zamzam's daughter Ivanna Alashkar, 6, is sad that she is unable to spend time with her grandfather even though they live under the same roof.

Ramona said her Palestinian father-in-law had been keeping to himself and avoiding his grand daughter following the latest outbreak of violence in Gaza, where his family comes from.

In a recent Instagram post, Ramona said: "Ivanna came to me and said that she wanted to spend time with her Seedo (grandfather in Arabic), but he did not want to spend time with her, saying that he was sleepy.

"I told Ivanna, let grandfather sleep, he is probably tired, but she replied that he is sleepy all the time."

Not long after, Ramona's father-in-law told her that he had to lie to his grand daughter as he had been watching the horrific news about the violence in Gaza and did not want to let her know about it.

"I had shaky hands while posting this. My tears were about to fall but I had to do what I had to do. Save Gaza, save Palestine!"

Ramona lauded her father-in-law's gesture to shield Ivanna from the horrors of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"Ivanna's grandfather had a very good reason to avoid her. She is still young and would be traumatised by the violence."

Ramona, 33, has been married to Palestinian expatriate Rami Alashkar, 35, since May 1, 2015. Ivanna is their only child.
