KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the recently Umno Institute will help members to better understand the party's struggles.
The Umno president said the institute will assemble thinkers who would present concepts and viewpoints in order to guarantee the party's continued relevance.
He said the institute will strengthen the party intellectually and serve as a forum for members to advance their understanding of political consciousness and understanding.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the institute will also nurture the philosophy and history of the party's struggle to its members.
"Discussions with the deputy president of the National Council of Professors (MPN), Prof Emeritus Dr Kamaruddin M Said were held to look at the progress of Umno Institute.
"I believe it can be an important entity to gather thinkers to work on ideas and soften views to enable UMNO to remain relevant in meeting political dynamism with a fresher approach," he said in a Facebook posting on Friday.
It was reported earlier this year of the establishment of the institute with Prof Datuk Dr Abdul Mua'ti @ Zambri Ahmad appointed as the deputy to Kamaruddin.
