KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed slightly higher at midday break after a weak opening affected by overnight decline in the US markets.
At 12.30pm, the key index gained 0.09 per cent or 1.33 points to close at 1,461.95 after trading within 1,458.27 and 1,463.30 zones.
Losers surpassed gainers in the broader market with 461 to 326 while 435 counters remained unchanged.
In total, about 1.97 billion shares were traded in the morning trading session.
Among the stocks that supported the local bourse were Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd which gained 10 sen to RM21.4 and Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd that added 20 sen to RM130.
Losers were Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd which lost 15 sen to RM7.45 and Tenaga Nasional Bhd which shed seven sen to RM9.89.
FBM100 gained 2.26 points or 0.02 per cent to 10,465.34, FBM Emas stayed flat at 10,794.69 and FBM Ace slipped 39.77 points or 0.76 per cent to 5,190.22.
