KUALA LUMPUR: A 5-year old girl suffered minor injuries after a Hyundai Elantra rammed into her in front of a shop in Jalan Eco Grandeur, Puncak Alam, yesterday.
In a viral video, the 30-year-old male driver was reversing his car to park in front of a pet shop when he suddenly pressed the gas pedal and accelerated and hit the girl, who was standing in front of the premise.
Kuala Selangor deputy district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Ambia Nordin, in a statement said the victim suffered scratches to her face and was confirmed to be in stable condition by UiTM Puncak Alam Hospital at 8.30pm last night before being discharged.
He said in the 6.40pm incident, the driver was on his way from his home to Jalan Eco Grandeur to pick up his son from kindergarten.
"Investigation papers have been opened and the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said, adding that the driver is not arrested by the police.
